I am writing this from my phone, because the cabin I am staying in has TERRIBLE WiFi. I mean, it is, after all, a cabin up in the woods.
It is NOT fancy. And what I mean is, it’s kinda gross. I went to boil water for my coffee just now and the pan had a ring of someone else’s old tomato soup. Yuck! I’m not super particular but I do have my limits. What I don’t have is a sponge or dish soap. So I put the pan away and used the coffee maker with some trepidation. I smelled it first, it smelled like coffee…which is what I was hoping for. Thank God for those little instant Starbucks coffee packs! I re-used my to go cup from yesterday. I’m not rolling the dice on one of the mugs in the cupboard.
I slept pretty badly. My daughter was supposed to stay over with me, but true to form, she wanted to go back home last night. I get it, so did I. But I paid 120 bucks for this cabin, I was staying. It got me thinking though-what the hell happened to my sense of adventure?! I used to live for shit like this. Now I’m such a homebody. So, I’m going to pack my stuff up, throw it in the car, and go exploring. The sun isn’t up yet-a perfect time to get up the coast before traffic starts.
I’m so seldom ever alone, and when I am, I’m usually on a time limit. This morning is MINE. I’m going to enjoy it!
Here are some pictures from our hike yesterday:
So, that is 1) the San Lorenzo river (I think) 2) my daughter and I, and 3) Redwoods in Henry Cowell state park.
